2010 Census: Montgomery County now majority-minority

The U.S. Census Bureau has released new numbers today, and they show that Montgomery County is now a majority-minority community.

Here are the numbers for Montgomery County, which data shows has 971,777 residents:

-Non-Hispanic whites: 478,765 or about 49 percent.

-Hispanics and Latinos: 165,398 or about 17 percent.

-Blacks: 161,689, or about 16.6 percent.

-Asians: 134,677, or about 13.9 percent.

Montgomery County's population as a whole increased from 873,341 in 2000, when non-Hispanic whites constituted about 60 percent of the county's population and Hispanics and Latinos12.5 percent.

    It was inevitable. Montgomery County was once a great place to live.
