Snapshots of the wild, weird, and wonderful things you can buy in the D.C. area.

Product: Individually-wrapped mocha ice cream.

Available at: Hana Japanese Market, 2004 17th St. NW.

Cost: 95 cents.

Why you might want it: You’re addicted to mocha ice cream but buying a whole box of the stuff isn’t convenient when you’re on-the-go. Plus, 60-degree temperatures call for nothing short of an ice cream splurge.

How it works: Mochi ice cream is made with mochi (duh), sugar, and ice cream or other flavors. This particular mochi treat is filled with red bean paste.

The bottom line: Look, you can try making mochi ice cream on your own, but why bother when for less than a buck you can eat one of these convenient little ice cream-filled buns of joy? Use the wrapper to hold the mochi to keep your hands from getting powdery.
