Update 9:41 a.m. We figured we'd share another tidbit of Panera news: company spokeswoman Dyani Hanrahan confirms the Columbia Heights restaurant will open in the storefront sandwiched between Panda Express and IHOP along Irving Street NW.

So far, Panera hasn't been treated to the same public excitement that officials had ahead of IHOP's November 2010 opening. But who knows, maybe they'll don Panera green aprons and serve bagels on opening day?

Update, Feb. 14, 4:30 p.m. Could Cosi be coming to the former Adams Mill Bar & Grill instead of Panera? Nope, at least not according to Cosi.

Richard Pawlowski, owner of the Cosi franchise in D.C., tells TBD that they have no plans to open in the Adams Morgan location, "although we are actively looking for sites in the district. We hope to have an announcement about a new location soon."

Original post There's been plenty of noise today about Panera possibly moving into the space formerly occupied by Adams Mill Bar & Grill (including some lamenting). But Panera isn't coming to 1813 Adams Mill Road NW. It's coming to Columbia Heights instead. Still want to lament?

Panera spokeswoman Dyani Hanrahan writes in an e-mail to TBD that the nationwide restaurant chain will be opening a new location in the DCUSA complex in October. This is in addition to the new Dupont Panera and one planned for 4501 Wisconsin Ave. NW in Tenleytown, set to open in May.

Hanrahan also writes that there are no plans to open in the former Adams Mill Bar & Grill location at this time. And Louis Courembis, an attorney representing the landlord of the just-shuttered restaurant and bar, says that no lease has been signed yet and that his client is "considering many options, many possibilities."
