Metro has announced it will be closing two Blue-Orange Line stations, and canceling Blue-Orange Line service at Metro Center for the three-day Columbus Day weekend, according to a press release. As with the recent Red Line work over Labor Day, the agency will be doing track maintenance to get in line with recommendations by the National Transportation Safety Board.
The two stations completely closed will be Farragut West and McPherson Square. Only Red Line service will continue through Metro Center. The interruption goes into effect at 10 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 8, and goes through Monday, Oct. 11. Metro will be running free shuttle buses around the closures and recommends that riders add 40 minutes to their travel times.
And no, you're not experiencing deja vu. This is something of an annual tradition.
