Arlington County police will close several roadways around the Air Force memorial on today to accommodate Transformers 3. Emphasis ours.

Sections of the right westbound lane of Columbia Pike, from South Joyce Street to Washington Boulevard (Route 27), will be closed from 5 P.M. to 9 P.M. All lanes of travel on Columbia Pike will also be shut down periodically during this time period, and will reopen as available. Pedestrians should avoid the area due to security surrounding the film.

Any questions about traffic or street closings should be directed to the Special Operations Section of the Arlington County Police Department at 703-228-4141.

The D.C. Department of Transportation (DDOT) is also warning residents and tourists that several blocks downtown during mid-October will be cordoned off for a war between Autobots and Decepticons. And you thought Michael Bay would never disrupt your daily routine.

The locations for the D.C. sequences of Transformers 3 are, predictably, clustered around downtown and the Mall. DDOT has created a hotline where you can get the most up-to-date info: (202) 540-8039. It clearly isn't voiced by the late Don LaFontaine, but it'll do.

And before you carp about how D.C. never hosts solid productions, bear in mind that Shia Labeouf told MTV News that this was going to be "the best movie we’ve made of the three by far."
