Last week the Maryland State Highway Administration wrapped up its work on the bridge over Indian Creek on Berwyn Road in Prince George’s County. The $649,000 project took about nine months and was funded through the federal stimulus package.
The 77-year-old bridge deck (photo, above) was completely replaced, and the roadway, curbs and sidewalks near the bridge were reconstructed as well. For the benefit of runners and pedestrians, a new stretch of sidewalk was installed on the southwest side of the bridge linking to the Indian Creek Trail.
The bridge had been closed during construction but is now reopened to cars and foot traffic.
