Riders' Advisory Council to host meeting on Metro bag screenings

- (TBD)
The Metro Riders' Advisory Council (RAC) will be hosting a meeting on Monday Jan. 3 at 6:30 p.m. at the Jackson Graham Building to discuss the agency's new random bag screening policy.
Council vice chair David Alpert says Metro Transit Police Capt. Kevin Gaddis will be on hand to explain a few things about the policy and take questions from attendees. Alpert also expects to see a few of the civil liberties activists who strongly oppose the policy and have petitioned against it.
"We hope we can clear up how this program is an actual security benefit versus just security theater," says Alpert. "Hopefully, this discussion will illuminate a bit of that."
The RAC, which was not consulted by Metro before announcing the screenings, is hoping to get feedback from riders on the new policy.
