Metro will be closing the Foggy Bottom station to do maintenance work for the duration of the Martin Luther King, Jr., holiday weekend. There won't be any Blue or Orange Line service between Rosslyn and Farragut West during that time, as the agency does some track work and overhauls some escalators and elevators. Free shuttle buses will be running between those two stations, with a stop at Foggy Bottom.
Metro advises you add 40 minutes to your travel time if you plan on passing through that stretch. A press release from Arlington County, including the shuttle bus locations, is after the jump.
The Rosslyn area will be impacted by the closure of Metro's Foggy Bottom - GWU Station on MLK Weekend (January 14-18, 2011).
On the Blue and Orange Lines, there will not be service between the Rosslyn and Farragut West Metrorail stations, and the Foggy Bottom-GWU Metrorail station will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday, January 14 until 5 a.m. Tuesday, January 18.
There will be free shuttle bus service between Rosslyn and Farragut West stations with a stop at Foggy Bottom-GWU station approximately every 15 minutes before 9:30 p.m. and every 20 minutes after 9:30 p.m.
• At Rosslyn Station, the bus stop will be on N. Moore Street near the Station entrance.
• At Foggy Bottom-GWU Station, the bus stop will be on 23rd Street, south of G Street.
• At Farragut West station, there will be two bus stops on Eye Street, one between 16th and 17th streets and one at 18th Street.
• Signs will direct you to the shuttle bus stops. If you plan to use Metrorail through the work area, please add approximately 40 minutes to your trip time.
Avoid the work zone by taking the Yellow Line:
If you’re coming into the city to a destination on the Blue Line, Metro suggests that you consider taking the Yellow Line and transferring to the Blue Line at L’Enfant Plaza Station. Metro will increase service on the Yellow Line from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, and from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday. For more information, please visit www.MetroOpensDoors.com or call 202-637-7000.
