UPDATED, 12:33 p.m.: This report originally stated a third vehicle was involved in the crash. In fact, it appears to have been just the Metrobus and the Jeep.

A Metrobus was apparently involved in a crash in the Congress Heights area of Southeast D.C. this morning, according to D.C. fire department spokesman Pete Piringer. The crash occurred near the intersection of Savannah and 5th Streets SE. The M8 and M9 Metrobuses travel that corridor.

Piringer says the department evaluated 13 patients, 11 of whom were transported to the hospital and two of whom refused transport. All the injuries were minor.

Metro spokeswoman Angela Gates says that the crash involved a Jeep headed toward the Southern Avenue Metro station.

"Two are worse than the others, and a couple have refused [treatment]. Most are getting checkup," Piringer says.
