UPDATE, 3:31 p.m.: Metro spokesman Reggie Woodruff says normal service has been restored.

UPDATE, 2:41 p.m.: The MARC Brunswick Line is suspended because of this power line problem as well. MARC is estimating that the line will be running again around 4 p.m.

UPDATE, 12:25 p.m.: A worker on the scene tells ABC7's Brad Bell that the wire problems are due to weather. Brad says there are a series of utility poles that run along Indianola Drive and up over the rail tracks. A transmission line came down one level into the lines below it, causing a small fire. Brad says there are not low-hanging lines over the tracks -- the lines have merely been compromised.

ORIGINAL: This is not the Red Line's day. Apparently there are some Pepco wires hanging above the tracks south of the Shady Grove station near Indianola Drive, according to Metro spokesman Steven Taubenkibel. As a result, Metro is not running trains between Shady Grove and Twinbrook. Shuttle buses have been requested.

"But shuttles can only carry so many people as opposed to a 6- or 8-car train," says Taubenkibel. Metro therefore recommends that you consider the Q6 Metrobus or a Montgomery County RideOn bus. We'll update when the situation has been resolved.
