Every Friday, we feature four weekend restaurant picks from the TBD staff. Here are this weekend's picks...
Breakfast
Market Lunch, Eastern Market
“Here, in list form, are all the good things about grabbing a Saturday breakfast at Market Lunch: pancakes, delightful intimate setting, pancakes, reasonable prices, pancakes.
It’s also right there in Eastern Market, so you can also pick up your fish, Christmas tree, and antique map before or after you eat.
And now the bad: It’s perhaps a wee bit too close to the fish counter. Especially when one is hungover.”

Brunch
Don Jaime’s
“Nothing aids a Sunday morning hangover better than the migas at Don Jaime’s on Mt. Pleasant Street. Don’t wuss out and get the milder red sauce, this egg and tortilla-based dish is best topped with Don Jaime’s spicy salsa verde. There’s only five or six tables in the whole place, so if you go at peak brunch time you might have to wait, but the service is fast so tables turn over quick. If you can, try to sit by the big front window, which provides for fantastic people-watching.”

Lunch
Teak Wood
“I went there for a late Sunday lunch a few weeks ago when everywhere else in a five-block radius had a 30-minute to one-hour wait. We were seated immediately and the restaurant was practically empty. It does fill up in the evenings, but if you’re starving at 1 p.m., head there. It’s a new Thai joint that has to compete with Thai Tanic directly across the street, but the food is good, reasonably priced, and it’s worth a visit just to check out the design of the place.”

Dinner
Ice House Café
“Mimi and I like the Ice House in Herndon. The entrees are always great. I had a steak last time, I think salmon the time before. Asparagus Oscar is a great appetizer (and my Foursquare tip). Live entertainment with some easy-listening jazz on weekend nights.”
