No freebies, thundersnow delays The Brown Bag, Sticky Fingers to take the spotlight

- Sticky Fingers Bakery will be on Food Network's Cupcake Wars on March 8.
No freebies at he Brown Bag today
Good slushy morning.
I hope everyone who had to go into work today made it in safely. And hopefully the commute this morning was far less painful than the 7-8 hour drive some experienced last night.
Unfortunately, yesterday’s thundersnow/THUNDERSLEET delayed more than just traffic. Today’s grand opening of The Brown Bag’s newest location at 1625 Eye St. NW has been postponed until next Thursday, Feb. 3 due to the weather. The fast-casual eatery will celebrate next week with complimentary pastries, muffins, and coffee from 7:30 to 10 a.m. (h/t Dining in DC)
If you had your heart set on breakfast today though, Kramerbooks & Afterwords Café will be offering snow day breakfast specials all day. The menu includes Banana French Toast, Café Corned Beef Hash & Eggs, and Café Croque Madame.
Corner Bakery coming to Germantown
Corner Bakery is opening its 13th location in Germantown, reports the Washington Business Journal. The café and bakery will be located at the Shops at Town Center. According to WBJ, the company is looking to open additional locations in the D.C. area.
Local bakery grabs Food Network spotlight
Looks like Sticky Fingers will have a moment in the spotlight. The D.C.-based vegan bakery will compete against Los Angeles' C'est La V Bakeshop in Food Network's Cupcake Wars, scheduled to air March 8. (via PoP)
Underground farmers market
Farmers, producers, and vendors of the D.C. Grey Farmers Market will be selling their goods at Kushi Izakaya & Sushi this Sunday, Jan. 30 from noon to 5:00 p.m. But this isn’t your normal farmers market. D.C. Grey is an underground farmers market, which allows vendors who aren’t licensed or can’t afford to pay the market fees an opportunity to sell their products. Vendors include Cunningham Farms, Seasonal Pantry, Gourmet Cherry, and King Cow. Sign up here, if you’re interested in checking it out. There’s also a $2 entrance fee at the door.
