Washington Redskins tight end Fred Davis is denying reports that he aggressively grabbed a woman and struck her with a bottle at a D.C. night club early Thursday morning.

TMZ.com reported that Davis and a female customer at Josephine night club were involved in an altercation and that after he grabbed her, she threw a drink in his face and he retaliated by throwing a drink in her face, and later struck her with what was believed to be a Champagne bottle

The third-year tight end in an interview with 106.7 The Fan's Grant Paulsen said that he accidentally bumped the woman while trying to walk past her. Davis did confirm to Paulsen that the two threw drinks in each other's faces, but said claims that he hit her with a bottle are "completely false."

Davis said the police have already seen the video from the club that backs up his story. No arrest was made and no charges were filed.

Attempts to reach Davis or his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, were unsuccessful.

Washington Redskins senior vice president/media relations chief Tony Wyllie confirmed that Davis is the subject of the accusations, but said that the team is looking into the matter and would release a statement later today.

The Redskins drafted Davis with the 17th pick of the second round of the 2008 draft. This season he had had 21 catches for 316 yards and three touchdowns while playing behind Chris Cooley. Last season with Cooley out for the second half of the season with injury, Davis recorded 48 catches for 509 yards and six touchdowns.
