While the designers are wowing the runways in New York, Georgetown is ready for it's own version of Fashion Week tonight at Fashion's Night Out. More than 60 establishments in DC's most well-known affluent neighborhood will participate in the event by offering discounts, drink specials, special perks, and freebies.

Community Network partner Borderstan has highlights from U Street's version of Fashion's Night Out, which includes promotions from retailers like Redeem and Rue 14. But the budding neighborhood's noble effort pales in comparison to Georgetown's powerhouse marketing campaign and prominent BID.

The "stars" will be out at a VIP party at Roche Salon on the waterfront, after which the high-heeled crowds will meander up Wisconsin Avenue for a fashion show. The "blue bus" will make a reappearance to calm those who mourned its replacement by the Circulator, and shuttle service will be free.  Free!  Free pedicabs too! You really must go and experience the plethora of free transportation opportunities. If you can't make it, fear not...I'll be there to fill you in.

I'll be tweeting from my travels, and check back on Monday for a roundup of my experience.

Will you be there with me? Use hashtag #FNO to keep up with the crowd.
