One of journalism's leading authorities on accuracy and errors will present a workshop to help Washington-area bloggers and journalists improve their accuracy.

Craig Silverman, author of a blog, column and book all named Regret the Error,  is providing the workshop for the TBD staff and the TBD Community Network. We are inviting other bloggers, journalists and journalism students in the community to attend at no charge. Visiting journalists in Washington for the Online News Association conference are also welcome to attend.

American University's School of Communication will host the workshop from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Wechsler Theater, Room 315 in the Mary Graydon Center. Visitor parking is available at the corner of Nebraska and New Mexico Avenues.

On my own blog, I have posted supplemental reading for people attending the workshop: Tips on verifying facts and ensuring accuracy.

We are presenting this workshop to maintain and improve the skills and commitment to accuracy of TBD staff and members of our network. We also always welcome the community to report errors to us. We will correct all errors that we learn about.

This is the fifth in a series of workshops AU's School of Communication is presenting in conjunction with TBD. The series will conclude Saturday, Nov. 6, with Lauren Orsini leading a workshop on WordPress tips and tricks. That session also will be in Wechsler Theater, from 10 a.m. to noon.
