Join TBD staff for a holiday meetup Dec. 16
You know TBD, we're jolly, happy souls (like Frosty) who love parties. We know your holiday dance card is filling up fast, but we hope you can squeeze in time after work for our Holiday Tweetup Spectacular on Thursday, Dec. 16.
You don't have to be a Twitterite, a Facebook fan or even a dedicated reader to share in the yuletide cheer and whathaveyou over frosty brews and sweet treats at The Big Hunt in Dupont Circle from 5 to 8 p.m.
TBD staff will be around to take any questions, comments or complaints you may have on your mind. There's also beer to be drank, cookies to be eaten and skeeball to be played.
The Big Hunt has several specials the night of the event.
From 4 to 7 p.m., they feature $2.50 Rolling Rock, Bud Light, Lite Ass Brew & Bad Ass Amber, $3 rail drinks and $1 off all other drinks. After 7 p.m., they have a $3 special on Rolling Rock, Bad Ass Amber, Lite Ass Brew & Big Ass Wheat drafts.
There's also a food menu, if you're into eating something besides cookies and beer.
You can get there by taking the Red Line to Dupont Circle, or by following the map below. Please help us get a head count by RSVPing (below the map).

I hope that at your holiday party, there will be some discussion of the fact that nearly everything of national significance is missing from this new (TBD) site. Channel 7 and 8 each had coverage of national stories. All of that is now missing, and instead, we get holiday party announcements, details of football players' squabbles, trees removed from local parks, and other trivial garbage. Sure it's fun to read about certain tidbits in the entertainment world or similar fluff and claptrap, but it's not news. Sadly, I doubt if anyone at TBD cares about this at all. As long as you're getting paid to pump out local tripe, everyone there seems to be happy.

You're 100% right Bob. I totally agree. I liked the old WJLA website MUCH MUCH better, they reported on REAL stories. The stuff posted on this tbd site is bias..EXTREMELY BIAS.....the role of the news media is to give un-bias information to the public...therefore, tbd is NOT part of the news media. Just like you said..local tripe. I don't mind reading the local stuff, sports stuff and what-not, but I agree that there needs to be more depth with this organization...not just a bunch of local news bloggers that can't make it into the real media world. Sorry...just my observation. I give this new tbd site a few years...a decent run and then they'll disappear. I don't visit this site nearly as much as I did the old WJLA site. I now watch Fox and NBC for my tv news, and visit Fox's site much more than this one.

As I've responded to your comments on other stories, TBD's focus is on local news and events only. It isn't that we don't feel national news is important - it just isn't what we do here. If you'd like to discuss this further, please send me an email.
