Say This:

Just tell him the truth. You owe the people you love the truth. I don't understand how people claim to love each other and then require them to live in uncertainty and ambiguity.

When my boys asked me if I liked smoking pot (I'm a child of the 70s. Everyone but paste eaters tried pot. I didn't try - I succeeded) I said - yes. I loved it. But it was a stupid choice. I didn't lie - I didn't avoid - and I answered honestly. Kids know when you lie. And once they know you lie - you'll never get their trust again. And then you've kept a secret but you've lost your influence and they've lost their most important source of guidance.
