Do's and Don'ts:

Do talk to your doctor from a place of interest rather than a place of anger.

Do find out what happened and how to resolve the problem. It is in your doctor's best interest to talk to you.

Do ask for an apology. It is warranted.

Say This:

Doc, can you explain what happened to me? I would like to understand how this misdiagnoses was made and what is going to happen as a consequence of this unnecessary surgery. Please tell me the details and thought process behind this. It would help me to heal if I can understand what went wrong and what you propose to do to make the correct diagnosis. A simple apology would also help.
