What would you say in this situation?
I want to talk to my parents about where they want to be buried and their funeral wishes.

Do's and Don'ts:

Most any topic is approachable from a third party perspective. Casually entering a conversation by discussing what basically amounts to "gossip" can open the door and get the wheels rolling in the right direction.

Say This:

I've been really busy lately doing double duty for my co-worker/neighber/spouse. Their father/mother just passed away and their were no arrangements made. Their whole family is in chaos. It really got me thinking, can we talk?

Mom, Dad when the time comes - and it will one day - I/We want to spend the time celebrating your lives not arguing or stressing over who goes where with what. So, lets take a day just making all the plans and arrangements - you make yours and I'll/We'll make mine/ours. Then we can just continue to let the good times roll. Besides, you love me/us too much to leave that kind of burden.
