Do's and Don'ts:

Do lead with your accomplishments and solid work record.

Don't even discuss it without determining benchmarks for success - set up a trial period first.

Don't frame your request as a "me too." If others are working from home regularly that's fine, but you should be making your own case.

Say This:

My performance reviews of the past X years have been very positive and consistent, and I'd like to request a work from home schedule as a benefit. The opportunity to save commute time and concentrate in a quiet environment will have a positive impact on our department goals. I suggest that we test this idea with a 1 day a week work-from-home schedule and review how that is going in the next quarter.
