Do's and Don'ts:

Emphasize you are concerned because you want to contribute as much as possible to the business and its success.

Have confidence in your talents.

Use facts and not feelings to support your point.

Say This:

"Thanks, Karen, for meeting with me. I want to get your ideas on something that is bothering me.

I believe in our company values and mission. I believe in what we do, and I am passionate about doing a great job. I feel you already know that about me.

The company is paying me to focus my expertise on technology projects. Right now, I feel as if other colleagues are readily demonstrating their value. I want to do the same. I want to make a difference and affect the business, yet the projects I am working on are of a different level than my peers. Here are some examples . . .

I would love to know more about how you make decisions when allocating projects. What factors do you consider?"
