I've been trying to lessen my carbon footprint...I'd like to go solar on my home, but thats too big an out of pocket for the moment, so I've tried to calculate my home's carbon cost and plant trees accordingly. Ok, its no hardship because I like planting trees, but it makes me feel good to know I'm paying back some of what the home uses.
I also take the wind option by power company offers, so I think the energy I'm using is more sustainable, though I suspect its a small contribution at this point.
I'm curious about the websites that let you buy carbon offsets to counter airplane flights and driving, but I don't know if any of them are reliable, or whether they are really investing in the things that will make a difference. Does anyone have a sense of whether these things are legit, and how to make the best use of them?
