Break a leg, Otter! (That's from my acting class.)
I, too, have learned a lot from this site, and am learning a lot more from my fiction writing workshop. I highly recommend taking a class if you have any serious interest in writing. While I'm not looking to create a "classic piece of literature," I'm sure picking up a lot of info re: point of view, description, average length of a short story (8-15 pages, double-spaced), etc.
AND, the writing exercises and deadlines keep me focused and writing, which is what I was looking for.
Cheers,
M.

I don't think I've actually said this, but I have huge admiration for all you creative types out there, especially those of you who are actively working to master your craft and are submitting pieces.
I took a writing course in college and I occasionally dabble in the write-away camps here, but writing is too hard for me to do on a regular basis, and I greatly respect those of you who do.

Marilyn,
I've been looking for one locally, but haven't found one yet that works. I've been considering doing a Gotham class online and may if I can't find one here soon.
Nice to hear they're really useful, thanks.

outside,
the north wind howls
in high limbs swaying,
begging, pleading
like church bells bleating,
calling the faithfu...
I agree, TG. Sometimes I don't comment because these daily poems, especially this one, feel just a tad too personal. I do enjoy them, though.
