You will be rooting for the people robbing the bank.
The heist itself really isn't that interesting but the characters draw you in. This is VERY loosely based on a true story; many story lines but basically, it is the good and bad guys (and you'll decide which is which!!) that make it a good old fashioned one.
The movie moves fast and will keep you involved until the end where the multitude plots are all tied up, but blink and you just might miss something important, this is a very intriguing jigsaw puzzle. There are many funny lines and subplots that are lightly passed over for instance, as one of the robbers having been in porn films for his 'qualifications" though it is never in a 'dirty' way. LOL!!!
The gang is robbing the bank for the money but the one behind it all is having it robbed for certain incriminating, scandalous pictures of the royal family (there's even one picture last year with Jodie Foster and Denzel Washington; don't remember the name lol!--where the reason for the bank robbery was the same--though completely different from this picture this may have been based on the same idea.)
The whole cast is great, but I was very taken by the two leads. Saffron Burrows plays the woman who gets the robbers to do the job and is also involved in the heist. Every move keeps your eyes on her no matter who else is on the screen when she is. A great female lead in my opinion.
Also, Jason Statham <sigh> knows what he is doing on screen. He fills the screen up physically and is also fascinating to watch. When both are on screen at the same time whether separately or together you are watching!!!
The only problem I have are two VERY violent scenes that I found difficult to watch.
I recommend this movie for people who love action and comedy. It'll keep you guessing the whole movie. I like that.
Your thoughts?
