Or just another bigot with a following?

Whenever a cult leader sets himself up as God’s infallible wingman here on Earth, lock away the kids.

Which is why I’d like to tip off law enforcement to an even larger religious cult. It’s leader also has a compound and this guy not only operates outside the bounds of the law, but he used to be a Nazi and he wears funny hats.

That’s right! The Pope is coming to America this week and ladies, he’s single!

Now I know what you’re thinking. Bill, you can’t be saying that the Catholic Church is no better than this creepy Texas cult. For one thing, altar boys can’t even get pregnant,

But really, what tripped up the little cult on the prairie is that they only abused hundreds of kids, not thousands all over the world.

Cults get raided, religions get parades. How does the Catholic Church get away with all of their buggery? Volume, volume, volume!

If you have a few hundred followers and you let some of them molest children, they call you a cult leader. If you have a billion, they call you Pope.

If you can’t pay your a mortgage, they call you a deadbeat. If you can’t pay a million mortgages, they call you Bear Stearns and they bail you out.

And that’s who the Catholic Church is, the Bear Stearns of organized pedophilia. Too big to fail.

When the current Pope was in his previous Vatican job as John Paul’s Dick Cheney, he wrote a letter instructing every Catholic bishop to keep the sex abuse of minors secret until the statute of limitations ran out.

And that’s the Church’s attitude. We’re here, we’re queer, get used to it.

Which is fine. Far be it for me to criticize religion.

But just remember one thing. If the Pope was - instead of a religious figure - merely the CEO of a nationwide chain of day care centers, where thousands of employees had been caught molesting kids and then covering it up, he’d be arrested faster than you can say, “Who wants to touch Mr. Wiggles?”

Guess who said it.

Catholic baiting, are we?

Oh, well. Let me pile on. I just love all these people "from other lands" (to quote Robert Klein) who come to this country and tell us how we racist, insensitive, and unfair we all are. (Like we don't grow enough of our own) Our "Native Americans" and Blacks are treated badly? Maybe in comparison to his Pederast Priests, most of whom, instead of getting punished or disciplined, are merely transferred to another location (where they are undoubtedly free to do it again!), where they maintain their same position and privilege.

Maybe we're not perfect but at least we try and redress our wrongs, Benny, baby. We're not hypocrites, living in the lap of luxury, all the while telling our followers to give to the poor. To channel Lenny Bruce, one wonders what Christ would think if he came back and saw the pope and Catholic high clergy living like lords while there all their followers starvinjg.

You think I'm a bit bitter? Let's just say I recognize a fraud when I see one. All that "love thy fellow man" stuff resulted in more Jews being killed by Catholics than anybody (or anything else). Twas ever thus. Going back to the Crusades, allegedly designed to recover jerusalem from the infidels, managed to kill more Jews than Muslims!

Let the Pope take care of his own instead worrying about everyone else. Seems to me that this is more than a full-time job. If, truly, he who is without sin cast the first stone, the Pope should make damn sure he keeps his hands in his pockets.

This is not a religious diatribe. You worship as you please.

I'm not sure I'm reading you right.

In case I am, let me mention the answer to the other question, Who said it.

The Catholic church is, apparently, the world's largest business. No government, anywhere, takes on the really big boys who run such shows.

Hey Fromz,

Whew! Quite a diatribe. Although I don't partake of tube (haven't owned one in well over a decade) a quick Net search produced the answer to "guess who?" - Bill Maher on the April 11 episode of "Real Time."

The transcript, which I pulled down from www.plnewsforum.com, included references to audience "laughter..." not sure I find this funny. Mr. Maher is quite the provocateur.

Cheers,

From what I'm hearing, there may be an apology forthcoming - under pressure of course.

What amazes me about this is the double standard. I'm positive if a conservative had issued a similarly offensive rant about someone, they would have been yanked off the air with massive MSM (main stream media) coverage about what a terrible person s/he was.
