Hi Hatikva. My answer was just uniquely me. It does not reflect those that should. And I love the progress being made in the medical world.
My answer is based on my life. One surgery at the age of 4 for tonsils. Last pap test at 25. One flu shot at the age of 18. No mammogram. No cholesterol readings. You name it, I haven't had it. I have been very blessed with health. At 60, whatever comes my way, I would not want to prolong my life. I have already had the best of years.

I'm caring for my wife, Jeanne, diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's, and yes, things get hairy... but stop her progression (meaning stop her life)? Not on a bet...
My Mom has it, and is still caring for other patients in a non-threatening, stress-free environment - and they relate to her care, because they relate... and she doesn't patronize them (me she rips a new anus once a week, because I'm not 16, but hey)...
I can answer this question, because I was asked it with cancer almost 20 years ago, and I took myself out and shot myself in the head. Given a choice now oof options, probably should have shot myself in the ass, It would have lasted longer - the message...
God's time is God's time... and my wife, doing what she's doing is, in her church body, doing wonderful things for people's understanding... I believe God has kept her alive for that/this purpose... me, I'm the bald-headed stepchild of medical care.... do I want to die? Not today... Am I worthy of living? Not according to latest liberal's polls... but f*k 'em... Libruls only want non-white reasons for them to run, guy-thangs that have done something in the past, eh- LOSER!... well, God ain't done with ME yet, so hang on, bubba... (not you Fromz)... and ki* my *ss...
Do I want out of my miseries? Ever' time I come back from Abilene, YESAH!... four-five days later, Not Yet... FWIW...
Blesings,

Hi everyone, I am new to this forum on-line but was intrigued and the discussions in this group were interesting to me, so I thought I would put my two cents in and say hello to all. :-)
Being in my masters for nursing and I have never heard of nanotubes... I think I will like this group and I may have to do some research on these things before I can make an educated contribution to the discussion.
I hope you do not mind me joining.
Thank you in advance.

Editor,
60 is the new 40 in 2008. You may feel that you have lived a full life and are now ready for whatever happens, but you are still young and apparently in good health. Your approach seems to be like that of someone 80 years of age. I wonder, would you question a 40 year old who had the same outlook on medical diagnosis and treatment?

Hatikva, I am not sure why people say they want to live the longest life they possibly can. Just as you are not sure why I don't follow that train of thought. People want to live longer because they feel that they have not the accomplishments they desired or have something else to do or someone else to see grow up. I have lived a very sheltered life, I admit, but I am totally complete in doing the things I wanted to carry out. I feel great contentment, with no regrets, and that is not a bad thing.
