While working on developing a new website for car buyers, I came across this article and video by Dave Ramsey titled "Drive free, Retire Rich". http://www.daveramsey.com/etc/lms/drive_free/
I deleted 4 hours of typing and days of research to resurrect my real purpose for this website. After seeing this video it occurred to me that website managers in this automotive field are simply rehashing the same information, trying to capitalize on affiliate agreements; grabbing traffic just to send them to a website for a free auto quote where the site owners make $10 a pop or more for the lead which is forwarded to many dealerships.
I don't want to manage another website, I want to lead people in the right direction, one that has true purpose. I think this is the defining attribute of a leader: "one who can compel others to move towards a goal that is worthy of emulation".
So as I rewrite the new website, I now have renewed purpose, and maybe that is ultimately what this future website was meant to be.
Was I meant to be it's manager, or subconsciously when I registered it, did I have a more meaningful purpose in mind for it's use? Probably! Fate has a funny way of showing itself. Sometimes even with a nudge from unfamiliar faces.
Will I still capitalize on the profitability of the affiliate links? Of coarse, any good manager knows where to make money. And with some websites getting 1,000's of free auto quote request per day, at $7 to $15 payout per request - the lure is astonishing. If I can get just 100 quote requests (lead generation) a day, I can do just about anything I want!
