I clicked on that link and saw the photo. It didn't look as big as I thought. Looked gross tho'.

I wonder if this will be on the Discovery Channel? I'd like my kids to see stuff like that.

Good point made Fromz and Zen. I see both sides here. There are a lot of things in the bottom of the oceans that we have not idea about, yet you can't dismiss what we have (not necessarily us) done to change the shape of some of the creatures there in the future. May see something coming out of there that we've never seen before. Happens every once in a while.

That's a deep as I'm getting on this. I know what happens when you stick your neck out there! LOL!

Yes, I do. Many stories and myths have a source, as you put it. Some dollop of truth from which a narrative springs. Over centuries, even millennia, much is embellished until it would seem there is no truth left at all. True for both the natural and spiritual worlds, IMHO.

Maybe not in this part of the world they weren't being eaten. But obviously it wasn't a new thing to be eating them in the Eastern part of the world.

It already has (or was it The Learning Channel - they all blur together)

There are more things under the sea than are dreamt of in our philosophy. There have been several programs highlighting some of these creatures, including Giant Squid (which rarely get up near the surface) as well as certain sharks that haven't evolved in thousands of years (I'm taking their word for it) and some really frightening looking things that you wouldn;t want to meet in a dark alley, let alone a couple thousand feet below the surface of the ocean.

Zen,

I hate it when science explains "everything," including scary things like giant squid and monsters in Loch Ness and Sasquatch (I still get shivers). I suppose it's likely there's a scientific basis for these mythical creatures, but I prefer myths to myth-busters.

Next you'll be telling me that Santa is just a guy with a weight problem, strange taste in clothing and an unhealthy interest in children.

Kat, science hasn't explained it all yet.
