Trauma (which working in an ER is) shows on anyone as flat affect after a time, that's a sign of burnout. I'm sure you know that. You are in one of the highest fields for it, and when it worsens for suicide. I used to work at a suicide hotline. Please if you can't get a new job right away, at least take time for yourself, to rest and destress, and to help yourself. I know you want to help the church, and others, as much as possible, but if you wind up ill yourself, you wont' be able to help anyone. I'm sure everyone would rather have you healthy now, you can help others more later.
Sorry I replied before I read the others comments, but since RoseBear, and I, both noticed it, it can bear repeating. You don't have to take their traumas home to be effected by them; your body goes through it's own while you're treating theirs. You get that rush of adrenelin, then the drop off, just the stress of seeing horrific things daily can hurt you.
