I'm away from home on business in a godforsaken corner of the earth and have limmited time to check tbd. This alert I had to respond to. I'll be back in a few weeks. Who sang Ruslaka? Where? Did you like it? I would have given anything to be there. I love opera and I'm obsessed with Anna Netrebko (heheheh). I love Dvorak too. Have to go. see you all when I can . . .

In answer to your question about Russalka. It was a co-production of the Boston Light Opera Company and the Minnesota Opera. Kelly Kaduce sang the lead role. I think I may have seen her a few years back in La Boheme. Of course she doesn't sing much through the middle of the opera, but she was quite powerful in the final act. I quite enjoyed her performance. If you get a chance to see this production, by all means go!

I haven't seen yet but I hope to. When she breaks into the 'A' list I wonder how many will assert that achieved the distinction due to her looks (Netrebko.) How catty opera goers can be . . . She's very beautiful. Youtube has a video of her singing Anna Karenina, but no Boheme's. She's done Boheme a lot (according to what I've read)
I have a couple of other stories in mind for this thread if I ever get to them. I've been thinking about other things lately and may decide to start a new one on other subjects, like Jungs/Campbells archetypes. My light reading now is a biography of Noam Chomsky, who shares a lot of my attitudes towards things, and it's inspiring me to write about other things too, like TV. Between TV and Mythology, it's a wonder anyone has a mind they can truly call their own (including me)
