Gordon and others' definition of a life coach sounds exactly like what I do. I am a Board certified sex therapist, a California licensed marriage and family therapist, and an advice columnist of 20+ years experience. Not that I believe that someone needs a string of letters behind them to give good counsel, but before I gave money to anyone to help me sort things out, motivate me, advise me, etc. I would sure like to be certain that he or she knew what they hell s/he was doing, ideas and ideals matched mine, and that I liked and trusted that person.

I had a free session with a life coach. Every time I expressed & labeled a thought or feeling - she told me I was wrong - this is the way your thinking or feeling. Thank goodness it was free.
