Well were down to the final 4-most folks are thanking God at this point!
Posted: May 1, 08 11:40am
I think I knew from the beginning that David Cook and David Archuleta would be in the finals. I see the two of them battling it out to the end.
Posted: May 1, 08 12:24pm
I agree with you on that. With Jason and Syesha being inconsistent, looks like it will happen.
Posted: May 1, 08 2:41pm
While I like this season's contestants, I thought the performances could have been better. The second Beatles week and this past Neil D week weren't stellar...even painful at times. It was sad to see Brooke somewhat self destruct.
I think Michael Johns and Carly should have been with the Davids for the final four. Oh well, the public voted.
Posted: May 1, 08 2:47pm
BTW, was anyone really surprised to find out the judges may have been formulating their opinions based on rehearsals? I thought I recall Simon in an interview talking about how the judges often see the singers on rehearsal/recording day.
Posted: May 1, 08 3:12pm
Nope. No surprises here.
This show has shown more favoritism than any show I know. C'mon now, look at the final 4. All that talent before them. Quite frankly, this has been the worst season ever.
Any of these 4 finalists wouldn't hold a candle to the last two seasons final four, now would they?
Please.

I'm actually watching it just to witness it's implosion.

Posted: May 6, 08 4:08pm
Ok since it's unanimous (at least at this moment, lol)
here it is:
David A – "Stand by Me" by Ben E. King and "Love Me Tender" by Elvis Presley (cover by Norah Jones)
David C - "Baba O'Reilly" by The Who and "Hungry Like the Wolf" by Duran Duran
Jason - "Mr. Tambourine Man" by Bob Dylan and "I Shot the Sheriff" by Bob Marley (cover by Eric Clapton)
Syesha - "Proud Mary" by Tina Turner and "A Change is Gonna Come" by Sam Cooke
Posted: May 6, 08 4:22pm
hmmm, this lineup is finally looking interesting. but david a.... groan, he is SO boring. what kind of career does he want anyway? he is, in my opinion, the most boring AI singer ever.
Posted: May 6, 08 4:31pm
Oh that's rich, Rush! LOL!!! Paula...wooo!
Sooooooooooo Jason sings I shot the sheriff? Look into his eyes when he sings...glazed over, stupid grin, dread or two coming loose...Max! record this!!!! ROFL!
David A. He will once again over sing - especial Elvis--
And Stand By Me seems a bit of a stretch. He makes me sick. Physically.
David C. Hungry like the Wolf? Dude....
Syesha. She may pull these off tonight. Rather see her sing than David A.
I think I'll watch Dancing with the Stars. Thanks for the heads up Rush!
LOL!!!
Posted: May 6, 08 4:13pm
my source says they'll have Paula's comments on all the songs posted in a little while too. LOL
Posted: May 6, 08 4:22pm
Too funny Rush! ROFL!!!! I'm dying!
Thanks for the list too!
Earende
Posted: May 6, 08 4:37pm
Rush, thanks.
What Hall of Fame mess is this??
Of all the songs by the Who...????
Butchering, slaughtering, all that blood...
I can't go through this again...
I'm going to visit Max's tread---we can cover all three of the reality shows in one fell swoop....I can't comment on 6 different threads.

Ya'll are killing me here. I think I about popped off the top button of my pants laughing so hard. So would that be PTBOPLSH?
Posted: May 6, 08 5:47pm
Hehehehe- sounds about right there kaybee!
Posted: May 6, 08 9:27pm
Was it my signal, but the audio seemed to be off? The background music seemed to be mixed too low.
Aside from that, the performances just seemed okay. I expected more at this stage.
Posted: May 6, 08 9:35pm
I actually wished that was my problem. Unfortunately I heard them just fine!
It was mediocre at best.
Posted: May 6, 08 9:41pm
Okay, so Syesha was shierky. David A was boring...nothing new. David C is making bad song choices. And Jason...really, why is he still on AI? He definitely melted down.
Posted: May 7, 08 8:33am
Jason was the worst of them last night. forgetting the words, singing off key. Its was terrible. Thank GAWD I taped it. FF'd through most of the torture.
Posted: May 7, 08 9:09am
This was one of the first times I watched it live and man I kept hitting my FF button to no avail.
I do have to say, I enjoyed Jason's first song, but the second one just fell apart. I thought he coulda saved it if after the song he said "hey I listened to Dylan sing that song a hundred times and I could never figure out what he was saying". just kidding.
I heard a voice coach review David A this morning he made some sense to me. He said David has a gift, he has a good voice and good looks, but he doesn't have the talent to be a great performer. I think i agree with that, most of the time he sings well but he just doesn't do anything for me, he's just blah or borning as most say. who is voting for this kid. the other thing that bothers me is, do the judges really believe this kid can sell millions of albums. that he has a long career in the music industry. I see him going the way of Taylor Hicks. I can see maybe Broadway in his future. but as a recording artist, nope, no way.
I didn't think Cook was that bad on his first song. It was different than just taking on 2 rocker songs. I think I may download the whole second song from itunes, I kinda liked that one.
Syesha, I'll have to say she's growing on me these last few weeks. I was a firm believer for a long time she was in over her head and should not have even made the top 10, but she's finally finding her zone and I thought she did well last night.
dialidol predictor has Jason at the bottom, it has been right for the last few weeks, even surprised me on the Carly week, it had her last and I didn't think she'd be the one to go.
anyway, hoe all have a wonderful day.
Posted: May 7, 08 11:00am
LOL...Rush, as usual, I totally agree with you -- I did tape the show and thanks to FF I think I watched it in 15 minutes. Between David A and Seacrest, oy AI is seriously getting on my nerves this season! Also, like you, I'm liking Syesha... and still hoping for David Cook to win the whole thing.
The one comment I disagree with you: David A on Broadway?! No way. Unless someone writes a show called, "Statues Who Can Sing."
Posted: May 7, 08 12:14pm
I don't know here.
David does have a good voice, and when he gets older it will get better - and his problem IS his stage presence.
I would not doubt that he could sell records. As long as he doesn't go on the road.
I have to put aside how much I despise him to make that comment!
Max
Posted: May 7, 08 1:10pm
You know I have to chime in here! LOL
First David A. -- Like Max's statement, the kid has no stage presence. At all! He might even pull of some syrupy waltzy CD that may go gold at least. Broadway---unless it's it's the Lion King!!
Syesha is growing on you because the list is shorter. She may seem likes she's getting better but she isn't. She was pitchy last night. But forgiven No y? There are no more females to compare her to. Happens all the time.
And then there's Jason. Most fans are now realizing that he should have left long ago. He's showing how little he knows about the process. Not paying attention. You can even see the doubt in his glazed over, bloodshot eyes.
David C. has been consistent more than any other AIer. You really can criticize him much for his performances. But he's more of a longshot than you think with all the David A. fans out there.
So, it in this completely messed up scenario we are left with, the best case here would be, David C. and Syesha. Final 2.
But we know better, don't we?
Posted: May 7, 08 1:16pm
These are very interesting insights. Didn't quite think of all of them. Too busy reeling...ROFL!
But! I like the Syesha/David C. final 2. That would be so awesome! It would make this horrific season come to a somewhat decent close.
<pleasepleasepleaseplease>
Posted: May 7, 08 3:32pm
Now playing "statues that sing" ROFL
I guess I was saying about David A. that his voice to me sounds more like a theater voice than a recording artist voice. Even though I've never seen AI on tour, I wonder what he will be like out there on the road.
I would totally love a David C./Syesha finale.
I would/will be very sad if David A. beats David C. that would be worse than Ruben over Clay and I didn't even watch the show back then just heard there was a ton of controversy about that.
Posted: May 7, 08 3:48pm
To this day I never liked Clay Aiken. Ever.
Makes my blood run cold. He reminds me of those Xmas cartoons from Rankin & Bass.
Posted: May 8, 08 4:30pm
Rankin & Bass!!! Ha!
I never liked him either. He was such a nerdy looking P.O.S.
And you look at him now and he seems so--fake.
I wasn't surprised when Rube won. Sorry all you Aiken fans. But that p.o.s. was pretty presumptuous that day. Standing there facing Ruben (who was sweatin' big time!), just knowing he was going to win, then BAM!
As Max would say, I was on the floor!!!!!!!

OH HELL YES!!!!
Finally...
AI is starting to look better for some odd reason.

<doin the smurf>
Party in here!!! I am having a very strong drink!
A TOAST!!!
hehehehehe
Posted: May 8, 08 4:14pm
Did anyone notice that it looked like Jason mouthed the words "don't vote" when they were running the phone number under his name? Interesting....
Also, on the elimination show, all four were asked a question by a caller, and when it came to David A. to answer, he basically passed.
No. Personality. At all.
Posted: May 8, 08 4:19pm
LOL! Della! Right on! As LoraMa said---'statute'.
As for Jason, I saw that snippet on Inside Edition or something. It did look like he mouthed the words 'don't vote'. Didn't have to worry about that from me!!!
Too bad he didn't mouth the words to the song he ripped to shreds night before last.
Posted: May 8, 08 4:23pm
Got that right!
Now that it's down to three, I would hope everyone is off the David A trip. He is so sickening.
I'm not gonna lie, I was happy for him when he made it to the final twelve, but really didn't think he would get this far!
I could kick my own ass right now!!! ROFL!!
Posted: May 8, 08 4:26pm
Ha!
Ladies! You are hilarious!
That's the funniest thing I've heard all day!

This show became a family tradition for us...my daughter could be counted on to actually sit and interact with us during the show. But, the last couple years, it's just not been that good. It's kind of sad, but I suppose there is a shelf life on shows like this.
Posted: May 8, 08 5:04pm
Absolutely Della.
The end is definitely near. As Riggs said, it's like witnessing an implosion.
Hope it goes out while it has some respect left. Whatever rules they changed (and they did) they should have never implemented.
I hope they see what we see. But knowing how greedy people are, they may go on and on and on...
Posted: May 8, 08 5:12pm
God I hope not.
Used to be a time when you would watch from the auditions and then watch all the way through to see which one made it.
Now it boils down to the auditions.
Most of the exciting things happened on those auditions, like Josiah, the kid who lived in his car, remember him? Or the young lady who's daughter was suffering a debilitating disorder, but she wanted to do this for her. So many of them were better suited then the one's that actually made it. At least we would have had some reason to root for them.
Now it's one long running tired ass joke.
Posted: May 8, 08 6:01pm
Well, well, well...
Zen-bot! I must say, we haven't seen this side of you in a....wait a minute....you've starting drinking early!!!!!
Put that scotch down! LOST will be on in an hour!
LOL!!!!
OK...my heart strings were pucked a little when you mentioned these two particular people. But when you start talking about how the auditions are the best part of this show, you know it's going down hill.
That you to be the most unbearable part to some.
Posted: May 8, 08 5:20pm
Speaking of Josiah, my daughter fell in love with the "Grace Kelly" song he performed. Do you remember it? It was originally done by a young man from England named Mika (pronounced Mee-kah). He is Lebanese by birth, and one of his idols is Freddie Mercury (who, funny enough, was also Lebanese). I now have no choice but to post a link to the video of that song...the lyrics even talk about Freddie, if you listen closely.

Zen, I ran off on a tangent without really replying to you. Yes, Josiah should have been in the group that made it through auditions. Maybe he'll show up next year. He has had some good things come his way since the show, however. Ellen Degeneres hooked him up with new instruments and lots of top of the line recording equipment. I'm going to go look for him online now.
And the young lady whose daughter had all the problems...I agree, I was quite touched by her, and I really believe she would have worked her tushie off to excel on the show. What a shame.

I can't watch that Della!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

okihadalumpinmythroat...BUT I DIDN'T CRY!!!!!
I was sick that's why I wasn't on... :P
Posted: May 8, 08 5:43pm
Yeah Zen I remember them. They really did stick out in my mind too.
I wish I could remember all of the ones who touched me like that. It would have been a better show if the judges would have just gave them a chance.
I cried when they didn't make it. Literally cried.
Posted: May 8, 08 5:48pm
I read this and almost cried all over again. Those are the memories of AI I want to remember. Not this finale.
Zen, sometimes....you can tug at those heart strings you little devil..didn't realize you could be so....sentimental (did I say that?) LOL!
Posted: May 8, 08 6:10pm
Max! Leave him alone. He's just having a 'boo-bot' moment.
Posted: May 8, 08 6:12pm
Oh oh...That's dangerous territory there Smokes!
Boo-bot? LOL!!!

Kinda nice to have someone stick up for me but....
that Boo-bot remark...I'll give you that one.

And Bot-bot, you cried too...<sniff> u did! U were mad as hell when Josiah didn't make it. You were off-line for a week!
Hey JuneBabaaaaaaaaaaaaay! Like that comment about kicking your own ass! LOL!! Go ahead! Do it! We know u r the real reason David A is still here!

Just when I think there's a heart in that barrel-chest of yours you go an blow it! LOL!!!!

Della...he'll watch it. He's more sentimental than U think. HE'S the one who brought us back to why we even watched AI in the first place.
