Welcome back to the same comfortable cafe -- same blue couch in the corner, same orange couch arrangement in the back (moved in personally by editor herself), people-watching out on the front patio, breath-taking views on the deck over the canyon out back. Great guitar in the evenings.
AZ- Tex salsa at its freshest!
Say hello, share a smile, tell a tale -- anything goes.
The management gets in around 8 MST, but the place is always staffed and full of good eats.
Tips welcome.

OK, I'm here, ready to lead a few choruses of "Rickity Tickity Tin" or whatever the group wants to sing...
Froggy, break out the extra crunch for our S'mores...
Start the campfire and let's sing...
"About a maiden I'll sing you a song, sing Rickity Tickity Tin. About a maiden I'll sing you a song, she didn't have her family long, not only did she do them wrong... She did every one of them in, them in; she did every one of them in..."
Ah, they just don't write them like they used to...
Posted: Apr 21, 08 7:59pm
About another maiden... like they used to...
Lizzie Borden with an axe
gave her father forty whacks
And when that gruesome deed was done
she gave her mother, forty-one...
S'mores anyone? Anyone seen Kle618, I think we may need another bailbondsman... especially if the Jus gets flowing...
Posted: Apr 21, 08 8:06pm
Oh oh. I open afresh and they're already singing about women who do major harm.
AZ smiles an evil smile...

For a great tip, buy Google Stock... OK, Microsoft... do NOT buy hedge funds unless you think you win by losing...
~~~
Like the place, kinda balances out...
Welcome one and all, and I'd keep an eye out for an Anxious Fridge, though Westinghouse, you might find Bugs 'Westing', so, eh - what's up Doc?
~~
If not before, see y'all then...
Blessings,
moi
Gawd, I'm old. Has anyone gone out and mowed the lawn for the first time this season and exhausted themselves? Is there a cure for this huffin' and puffin'?
No offense intended against Spanish speakers here... I am trying to master the language...
Husband always had two jobs. He was a fireman, and because he worked twelve 24-hour shifts a month, he was also a ____ -- now his current "occupation".
Mr. C worked the barrio in L.A. for a few years. I taught there many, many years and loved it. It has its perks and its black sides. Husband came home after his first two weeks in the area and said, "Well. I speak Spanish."
I look at him. I take a deep breath.
"My last eight or nine runs or so," says Mr. C, "we get to the scene and someone runs up and shouts, 'Chicken breath! Chicken breath!'"
I look at Mr. C.
He says, "How does that translate into 'she can't breathe'?"
I look at Mr. C and just shake my head...
Hello, all!
My hours keep me appearing anti-sociable. I come and go as a mist. But I always show up.
I add to our rec room a 1942 pin ball machine. High scores will remain on the backdrop. And to save space a mini ski ball machine, my favorite to play. I would have carted over the full blown scale, but with our ever growing collection of amenities in our café, I didn't want to take away from our homey and comfy atmosphere.
Morning Frog-ee. I'll bet just like your area the day will be too beautiful to hang indoors playing ski ball. But I'm still going to try to get that machine to dispense tickets for trinkets for me.
Hello!
Love ski-ball! When we moved, I tried to convince Mr C to lose the pool table and replace it with air hockey and ski ball machines. He just looked at me. The pool table sits in the middle of the great room. With its cover on, it does provide a nice horizontal work surface...
Off to a Red Hat lunch today.
I'm always in the back... (2005)
Sounds good to me, except for the grits part. But I only had them once. The dish reminded me of oatmeal with a serious identity problem.
Posted: Apr 22, 08 10:03am
Oh but grits are always wonderful!!! Well, except for that one time when I sneezed them. Then it was like running sandpaper thru my sinuses...and it took forever to get them all out of there....LOL!! (True story.)
And down where I grew up, (the E coast of FL) you had what were called the "Three G's." And, what you may ask, was that? Grunts, grits, and gravy. Grunts are a saltwater fish that makes a grunting or croaking-ish sound when you first reel them in, hence the name.
Posted: Apr 22, 08 12:32pm
Rhiannnonn,
shoulda been 4 G's; no 3 G's and a Chuckle...
Chuckle....
Ahm right proud yu are a Friend, else... (I'd have to hunt you down and make you mine...) but we cain't go there, so I won't ...
Hey, Gayle, how's your father doing?
Posted: Apr 22, 08 1:03pm
Hi Azure.
Thanks for asking. He is having good days, then bad. My Mom, and I, think he is trying to do too much, he keeps trying to walk his dog. Now this is a small dog, a Shih Tzu, but he is strong, and sometimes pulls, he can almost pull me right down our front steps, and can drag me down the street. Everytime he does walk the dog he is worse for several days. Also he has dropped to 135 lbs. and is 5'11". At this point we are doing everything we can to prevent him from losing more, and trying to put some back on. It's not working too well, he is often too tired to eat much. He is on Ensure with Extra calories in between meals, and he has to take Metamucil twice a day, which fills him up too much, but is required. My Mom and I are kept very busy. I hope we can see some improvement soon, we keep getting hopeful, and then something else happens. Thanks again for asking, and listening.
It's a good thing your father has you and your mother there with him, Gayle! (As exhausting as it is.)
I hope he starts gaining weight. Hope you start getting more rest!
Ha...like Mr C's gonna help here.
We watched our taped show of Boston Legal tonight -- the Alzheimer's episode. (Made me cry. Made me laugh. Kelley is very talented.) Told Mr C how someone on TBD mentioned being in love with a fictional character ("someone" I have big crush on meeself)...and Mr C says, "TB...what?" Sigh. How many times have I shared silly stuff from here with him?!
Oh, the fictional character? Alan Shore.
Manly men...it's just a flesh wound...
Posted: Apr 23, 08 2:08am
LOL!!!! Haven't seen that in awhile..."Duct tape! The Handy Man's Friend!"
Posted: Apr 23, 08 4:49am
AZure-CAlm,
If we're going to look at things in terms of having a thing for a character still sticking to the same actor, I'd have to say that I would have a thing for Dr. Daniel Jackson. In the movie "Stargate," James Spader played the character.
As for the relationship between Dennie and Alan, I'm still trying to figure that one out. I came into the series late (like late last season). Have I missed something there that makes it anymore understandable?
Posted: Apr 23, 08 7:33am
Rhiannon,
We rented Stargate about a month ago. When Spader came onscreen I blurted out, "OMG! It's Alan!"
Husband squints, grins and says, "Oh, yeah. Your hearthrob has put on a few pounds, eh?"
Had to laugh.
I think Kelley is exploring male-bonding as far as the relationship between Crane and Shore is concerned. It could be that I want to think that's all there is to it...
Posted: Apr 23, 08 9:39am
AZure-CAlm,
I sure hope so. I just kind of think, "wait a minute" when they start talking about things like when they have their special over-nighters and such. I mean, other than the comments they make when they're sitting out on the terrace with their Scotch and cigars, all indications are that they're straight. Usually, the relationship strikes me as though Alan is the son Dennie never had, then Dennie makes one of the odd remarks...
p.s. How did you know what my 'Tully's'
coffee shop looked like?
Posted: Apr 30, 08 7:10am
Hi, Michael!
Big part of the problem here is getting these lazy TBDers to help themselves while I sleep. Geesh! (Yep, black kettles in the kitchen...)
Food is good, coffee the best, ambiance superb. Come on in any time of the day or night. No Chapter 11 goin' on here!
