I don't know. I do care, but it is a personal matter and as long as no one tries to force their belief structure on me it is an interesting topic of discussion.
Okay...this is only one persons view. And that view is...I don't think it matters. If there is great. But what is it's nature, it's stucture? Does it have a personality? Emotions? Is it's ego so big that it needs to be worshipped? ...and if there isn't one then what? Is it possible for us to get along without them? What seriously and truly would change about us if there isn't one? Certainly it would put an end to all those people who claim to be acting for God. Would be kind of nice to be rid of things like the Taliban, Al Queda and TV preachers.
I am a Christian, and I believe in God, I however do not picture Our Father in heaven, as necessarily male, I believe it could equally be our Mother in heaven. In private prayers I sometimes say my mother and father in heaven.
I do not think God really needs worship, but that he told us to do it, because he knew that many people would need it, just as they need to pray, and believe in God.
Well ..but of course .. He is a very personal God.
I talk to God all the time .. he don't say much, as he is not a very good conversationalist..but, when he does answer, I usually end up in a "bed of roses"..!
My God told me in a vision once, "Lance, even a rose has to rise above the pricks and the B.S. before it can blossom..." It's been kind of a guiding principle ever since.
Who else would have such a sense of humor? And kill His own Kid as a joke on us? unless it was to make a Celestial Punchline? I don't think so...
I'm like the old guy who was asked if there was a God, "Well, son, I act like there ain't to get along with mah neighbors, but pray lahk there is, 'cause ah want better comp'ny..."
Humans used to make sacrifices of crops and animals and belongings. However, we continued to walk without God and commit premeditated sin knowing we would make a sacrifice, ask forgiveness and continue to repeat the pattern. He knew there had to be a better way. So, He made a New Covenant. The New Testament. The sacrifice of having His Son come as man to experience all that humans experience. Hunger, temptation, thirst, compassion, hate (of others) pain, and all of it. Jesus knew what His purpose was and what He was to do. It was still His choice. However, the ultimate sacrifice was made, because of me and my failings and all those who come to Him. All my past is wiped clean by His blood and the Holy Spirit has been given to me in order to guide me. This sacrifice works under God's perfect plan.
Jesus said that love is the fulfilling of all laws. That if we loved others as we love ourselves, there would be no laws broken. He also said "No one comes to the Father but through Me" and that the only unforgiveable sin was the blasphemy of refusing His Spirit. Jesus was amazing. His love is perfect and unconditional.
I remember while growing up, my grandmother telling me that I would have good luck and fortune every time I saw a white horse. “But,” she would caution, “if you think of the white horse's tail you will lose your good luck and fortune.”
So, every time I see a white horse, what do I remind myself NOT to think about? You guessed it, the horse's white tail. Atheists are like that, denying the existence of the white horse's tail. At least agnostics are honest about their doubt of a white tail, if they haven't seen the horse.
All that energy, thought and denial to 'prove' in their secular world the non-existence of what they know does, in fact, exist. Else, why does the thought of God, Jesus, a Higher Power even cross their minds? If it didn't exist, the possibility of that very thought would not exist, either.
Atheism is more than ignorance, an unawareness of what exists and is visible, or if unseen, its possibility existing. Atheism is a conscious choice made to deny the existence of the Godhead. Atheism is a willful defiance of the known laws of nature, science, law, and spirituality.
Truly, atheism is of itself a religion of denial.
Man being an imperfect being, has an imperfect understanding of the world and universe. God, in His infinite Love and Wisdom, granted us dominion over this world, this universe, and the creatures therein. More is revealed every day to discover, explore, question, test, and prove or disprove, the existence of something new. The water we drink, nature's evidence in our backyards, let alone the universe, shows man's finite grasp of the world in which man lives.
In our bodies alone are new worlds to explore, test, question, debate and hypothesize. One hundred years ago or so, all the best minds extant, 'knew' malaria was caused by foul, miasmic air. No one gave more than a passing thought to the pesky mosquitoes buzzing about our ears. We have discovered the existence of red cells carrying oxygen and our white cells carrying anti-bodies. The past century has exploded with insights and discoveries down to the molecular structure of our selves; DNA, RNA, genes, psychology and physiology, and a growing understanding of the structure of nature and life.
A child is born new and unformed. It can not speak; does that mean language does not exist? It can not walk; does that mean that bi-pedal motion is impossible? A child is born without kneecaps; does that mean the human body surrounding them has no room to grow and develop as it matures? A child is born totally dependent upon adult care; does that mean the certainty of adult growth and maturity, and inevitable aging, is seen as ridiculous and worthy only of scorn?
By the time our precious, model child is a toddler, rudimentary speech, upright motion, and awareness of the environment are a part of its life. The intellectual knowledge overload, expansion of limits and boundaries as it explores its world with increasing independence of thought and action combine with our child's frustration. Frustration at being unable to express itself clearly as it tries to keep up with the 'Big People'. We call this phenomenon and its symptoms the “terrible twos”.
Ecclesiastes tells us, “When I was a child, I thought as a child, spoke as a child, behaved as a child; ... when I became [an adult] I put away childish things.” Atheists exist spiritually in a perpetual state of terrible two-ness. Like our human cherub, they don't like the necessity to accept the realities of the potentialities and limitations of language, motion, physical, intellectual, mental and emotional growth. So they throw spiritual temper tantrums.
Thus, let us pray for the willful ones among us who steadfastly close their eyes to the evidence of their senses, reason and logic, and so vociferously speak and write about their denial of thinking of the white tail existing on the white horse.
Sooner or later, they will open their eyes, and the white horse will be there for them to find. They will know it was there yesterday and today, and will be there tomorrow and the days thereafter. If they open their eyes and do not see the white horse immediately in front of them, it does not prove it didn't exist, didn't pass by, and won't return. So it is with our Lord...
“Lord, I pray for eyes to see, ears to hear, and willingness to seek thy guidance. Help me in mine own unbelief that I may prove an able witness and servant of Thy Will. In Jesus' Name, I pray Thy Will be done. Amen (So be it).”
To quote "God in his infinite love and wisdom granted us dominion over this world". Well...considering that we're blowing ourselves to pieces all over the planet, polluting it's air and waters and forcing into extinction many of his creations, I'm kinda thinking his "wisdom" mgiht have given dominion to the wrong species.
I remember, while growing up, my grandmother told me that I would have good luck and good fortune every time I saw an invisible pink unicorn, but that I would have none, if I thought about its tail.
Funny thing is, I never saw that invisible pink unicorn.
A child is born new and unformed. It cannot fly. Does that mean that unaided human flight is impossible? Um...yes?
And to say that atheists "deny the Godhead" presupposes that there is a Godhead to deny. Are you going to acuse me, next, of denying the Santahead? Or the Easterbunnyhead? Fantasies all. Myths and faeries.
When my son and daughter were children, they thought as children. They thought, with total certainty, that there was a "man in the basement." So I went down into the basement, into every corner, and showed them that there was no man there. "But he moved into the other corner when you went into that corner!" they would reply (or something to that effect). But now that my children have grown, they have put away childish things. They no longer believe in that invisible man in the basement. Or that invisible "Father in the sky."
There are many different ideas and thoughts being expressed here regarding the existance of ,or not, of God. It is wonderful the way that most are being very respectful of differences. These very personal, individual beliefs, or lack thereof, really vary from person to person, as expected.
I was raised to believe in God, via my Protestant upbringing. I have, and do, on a daily basis, feel, what I believe to be, God's strong spiritual presence. There have been many signs, wonders, and events that family, friends, and I have experienced that keep me a believer, and faithful. That does not mean, however, that I don't sometimes question some aspects and beliefs of organized religion.
I didn't grow up going to church so I never gave it a thought or cared. I did however put my children in a private christian school until this year. Recently my 10 yr old daughter Ivy died and I've done nothing but search for God ever since. I beg, plead, pray, praise, go to counceling, church and I can't find him. If he does exist I wonder why he didn't give her back to me and chose to take her in such a horrible way? But Ivy truly believed in him and so I hope there is a God because I want to believe she's still alive in heaven as apposed to the cold ground. I have to believe and can only hope that God will help me find my way so I can join my Ivy. Good night my precious baby girl, I love you. (picture of Ivy)

If there are atheist, then doesn't that mean that there would have to be a God. Otherwise they wouldn't have a reason to not believe.

Why Atheists DO Believe in God

You define atheists and atheism to meet your needs.
Have you ever had a good conversation with an atheist?
I cannot relate to your definitions and examples.
Atheism is not as you describe it, it is a highly individualized belief, not an anti-religion.
