Dan, you are a blessing for not shying away from one who needs God's touch. I have seen you on TBD, yet we seem to never be on the same threads, so may I say it is truly my pleasure to find our common ground and a way for me to just give a howdy shout.

Hi Dan,
Welcome from me as well. Hope you'll stick around. I lived a long time feeling hopeless, because i believed some lies of legalistic religion.
And punkinface, I'm glad you are posting and visiting with us. i pray the Lord's blessing on you today!

Hi punkinface,
As I read your reply to Cinder, I wondered about what it was your grandma was really refering to. Moses was't the only writer of the Old Testament, there were several. Moses however was the writer of the Torah (first 5 books of the Bible/Tanakh). And yes, we are under the blood, but again, the blood doesn't take away the law of God, it adds grace through a more perfect sacrifice, Jesus Christ.
Before Jesus, you sinned, you died (were stoned to death). But now we no longer have to die for our sins, we just have to die to our sins, and because of Jesus' sacrifice of His blood, we are spared. Not because we deserve it, because God chose it to be that way. We all are born into sin, and really are deserving of death, but because of Jesus, we no longer serve sin, but Christ. Perfect, without faults, failures or weaknesses, no. Thats where grace comes in. We have a advocate with the Father, Jesus. He interceeds for us. When God looks at our lives He sees one of two things, either the blood of His Son Jesus, or darkness. If you have accepted Christ Jesus as your savior, He sees the blood covering, if not, He sees the darkness of sin. God loves as all, but not all love or accept Him. Thats why people find life so difficult. they are trying to live on their own terms without Christ. The world as we know it will one day end, but eternity will be forever. We choose where we will spend eternity. God told us of His judgment against sin and sinners. We have a way now to escape Gods judgment, and that is Jesus.
I think I got off on my thoughts...sorry, but I don't want to erase it.
Remember, God gave His word first to the Jews, and then to others. Reading what Moses wrote isn't sin or in error and will not make God mad at you, (Jesus and Paul, etc, used the Torah/Tanakh as their main text for teaching). God Himself meant with Moses and gave him the Torah, so no my friend, God won't hold you accountable for reading and studing it. After all, it's His word not Moses' or ours.
Sorry for being long winded, but I want to make sure you have a complete understanding. God loves you very much, and He sacrificed His Son to prove it. How long has it been since you found a quiet place and just sat down and chatted with God? How about today...

just today.. and god does bless me. everyday. i don't carry my burdens with much dignity. i am having a hard time. we are being foreclosed on our property and i has taken it's toll on me for several months. that being said, i do thank each of you for your comments. and blessings. i think we all believe differently. as long as we're on the same track. many cars with each car believing differently. but we're aimed to the same place. God bless.

hey punkinface - sorry about the whole foreclosure thing. been there, done that. it's extremely stressful. But looking back, I know it was the best thing that could have happened.
Lord God, please bless this dear one of yours with an indescribable peace and assurance that you will meet her every need. I pray that TODAY she will realize something or find out something that will fill her with hope and expectancy for the future. In Jesus Name AMEN!

thanks, i know i'm not alone in this mess. i will survive. and oh, yeah. jesus is the engineer in my scenario.
we must be careful and realize that jesus did teach judaism. it's after he was crucified, arose and descended to heaven. that was the beginning of the first church of christ. the people who killed him were the first members. which should be a real lesson for us that all is forgiven on the cross. if we accept it. an unmerited gift.
