Yet another contributing factor to all this mess. A piece of the puzzle so to speak. This issue IS a concern for the US. Please check it out. Please answer in your own mind why NO politician wants to touch this "hot potato". Fromz, you might even agree with this one. :-)

"Please Explain the Recession"
Recession= When the middle class faces challenges of;
*Rising prices for necessities
*Depressed earnings
*Lower Confidence hence less spending
(Elite are uneffected by these events)
Depression= When the middle class has been squeezed so much that they can no longer support the elite's thirst for mone. Excess greed and avarice cause a collapse of financial markets and the pumped up balloons go "POP".
The Elite jump out of windows because they faced the horror of having to work in the trenches with us riff raff.
The Riff Raff having been trained and tempered by the abuses of the elite fair much better.

Hmmm. Where I sit, I don't see the sky falling. I hear dire predictions all of the time, but I've been hearing those my entire life, and never once has the world as we know it come to an end.
The world has changed. Thats what happens. I do see alot of things I don't like, but I'm not sure any of them are the "bell weathers" of our demise.
I remember driving down an old road that led to lands end. Kudzu, tall pines, and no lights anywhere made the drive a pleasant Saturday night destination. You see, near the end of the road was a club called the "Gulf Gate Lodge". A single incandsescant bulb lit the doorway. Only locals knew of it's existence.
I remember blasting down that road in my Cadillac convertible. I remember chortling along in my '47 Chevy pickup too, and the night the wild turkey flew through the passenger window and scared me so bad I almost wrecked the truck. I had my 69 Mach I up to 140 on that road once. The moths in the headlights, the Kudzu waving in the wind in the rearview, the smell of the Gulf; salty and fecund.
Ya know what's down that road now? Hundreds upon hundreds of second-home beach houses, two golf courses (I think), several gas stations, a supermarket, and several tourist oriented small businesses selling inflatable rafts and seashells.
The old Gulf Gate is gone. Or, if it's there, I sure as hell couldn't find it, and I drove up and down that road several times looking. The old "Here Tis" campground is gone too. (Named for the old wooden hand painted board that marked it's entrance.)It was a collection of campsites where you could park a camper by a picnic table for $3/night. As teenagers, we made use of that on many a weekend, because it was cheaper than a motel, and we didn't have to risk driving intoxicated through several jurisdictions to the nearest one.
Yeah, we're in a recession. A recession of southern culture. Going, going, gone. About the only good thing about it is that the owners of all those condo's and beach houses are from N. Louisiana, N. Alabama, and Georgia. We can still get a good Oyster Poboy or a BBQ sandwich. It just cost's 5 times as much and I can't do 140 anymore (thankfully, how I survived all that is a real mystery)
