Froggy, That is an excellent point about the shelter. I was concerned about all the cats that are out and about here. But perhaps the shelter also gives the cats a place to wait and lurk and prey on the birds! How horrible! I will put it out in the open. Thank you!
I do love the sound of birds splashing in the bath, like your robin pretending it is a duck.

Dear Froggy--
I wanted to update you on the unusual sight I saw at my bird bath this morning. I wish I had a camera set up like you do, because there was a large tom cat perched on the bird bath, having a nice cool drink of water.
Fortunately it is a metal bath, with a solid heavy base. Otherwise it might have been tipped over.
Small wonder no birds use the bath!

Hey Henry ..Yah cats outside like that can be a "pain in the arse" ..
I have some Blue Jays that don't like cats..Dive Bombers ..it's a riot when a cat forgets they kive around the trees.
Had a cat visiting the heated bath all winter .. I didn;t really get pissed off as I suspect it was his only place to get freash water that was not frozen over..
Take care ..

Aaahhh, here you are, Senór Froggy! I have been looking everywhere for you....
One day I was filling my birdfeeders, Whitney quietly swishing her tail on the front porch. One of my friends said, "Isn't that kind of like CHUMMING for your cat?"
And I thought for a minute and said, "Why yes, I do believe it is!" and went on filling the feeders.
Alas, my darling Whitney is of such a tender age that hunting is just a pleasant memory to her now. I like to watch her stare down the little creatures, you can practically see the intensity of the memories of days gone by as she relives the glory of the hunt... sitting peacefully... on the front porch....
