Why do we have elections?

The Mexican drug cartel (read Mexican Government) controls our border and OPEC (read Persian Gulf/Muslim) nations have a death grip on our economy. November will be an exercise in futility and all the sweet songs and perfumed air we've had blown in our faces for almost two(2) years will smell like an open septic tank. Only those who believe in prayer have even a hope and those who do not--don't have that!.

We have elections so we can believe we have a choice. In Iran, the only candidates are those allowed by the ayatollah's in the background. In the USA, the only candidates are those allowed by the DNC and RNC in the background. And we criticize Iran for not being democratic.

Upon re-reading my post, I feel it must have been a tad pessimistic and certainly cynical; so I will amend it to read-- Why do we have such long, tiresome, tedious and , frankly, boring "election" campaigns?" Is that better? Still prefer our brand of democracy to any others I've seen. Maybe I'll have reason to retract that in November.

Boring?? Where else are you going to find government leaders dishing the dirt on each other for our entertainment? Step aside reality TV, it's an election year!!

The long campaign season is all about money. Why should NH and IA decide who gets on the ballot - answer is recently they don't.
