Creative Challenge for the weekSunday June 8 through June 15

Hello, I'd like to challenge us to create a work for this Discussion list that in someway communicates an aspect of ourselves to the other members.

In any medium (words, photography, drawing, music, architecture (if you have the time) or any other creative medium, do a piece or conceive of a piece that expresses some autobiographical aspect of yourself to the members of this group. It can express your current mood, a philosophical fundamental, a whimsy, yor physical appearance, anything! If you want to just describe what you would do, or do a piece and then explain how it reflects you (or not), set yourself free. let's set a goal of a week from now and see what we can come up with!

If you want to discuss your concept or process, fire away!! I hope you will take me up on the challenge and am eager to get to know the creative people on this list better!

WS, I think your idea is wonderful and I bet everyone else does too but maybe we're all waiting for someone else to start it off. I know I am.

I wrote this some time ago , but it reflects how I felt at the time, and each time I re read it I find that I have grown and the tapes have paused..not completely stopped but have paused......its a prose written about myself.....I hope that it helps someone....and that others can find that they are not so different from me.

When a person grows up, and is called a whore

She believes that of herself, and no wonder

For her father is her lifeline, and her world

And when he doesnt love her, her world becomes black

She finds a man who says he loves her,

She believes that, and in the end her heart is broken

Again she tries, marries a second time,

Only to be let down again, when he found someone better

And the third time, again , made a glorified babysitter

But with a ring on the finger making it legal

Now she sits all by herself, after 5 babies,

Still believing that the only thing she knows about love

Is laying on her back with her legs spread,

For that was what she was told growing up

And she cant stop the tapes from playing

The recordings of her fathers voice , telling

Her that she would never amount to anything

And she lived down to his expectations,

And now she knows not how to get out of the hole

That he created , and she jumped into , to make him proud.

A dead man's voice playing continually in a loop

Why cant she get him out of her mind?

Since then I have completed my GED with perfect scores in both the English exams, and I am going onto University for my journalism degree. I have also started my own virtual assistant company here at home, and I have been taking an unusual amount of pictures lately, and my crocheting is coming back to me :) Life is what you make it....and when I wrote this self prose...I was in a very bleak place.....now I am doing much much better and my creative abilities are coming back , in fact they are surging forth with massive anticipation. :)
