I've been in Florida for 20 years, but I grew up in Mississippi. Throngs of people move to Florida all the time, so after 20 years, I feel almost like a native. But not quite. When I open my mouth to talk, Mississippi still comes out.

As one native Northern Californian, to another, I agree. . .but not everyone knows the difference or even if they do, the do not get it. I am in Silicon Valley. . .west side of San Jose, near Blossom Hill. I love the area, but loved it even more when I could kayak in Lexington Reservoir. . .it is way too low these days, so I go to Stevens Creek Reservoir or up to Loch Lomond these days. HEY . . . how about a "Sillycon Valley" group. . .there seem to be enough of us here.

Holyoke, Springfield, NYC, Martha's Vineyard, Seattle....MV, Seattle for a few years, back and forth.
A very glamorous sounding existence.
Now I'm in the Happy Valley - quite near Northampton, MA., where even a progressive could be labeled a conservative.
There is a young woman who IS the queen of hula hoops, so I feel good being here because she is hooping all the time on the streets of NOHO.
(It's a skill I never really mastered, alas. Apparently it's thrusting rather than doing the circling movement that keeps the hoop going.)
i would like to be on a beach today. :(
Not only am I a Masshole, but I grew up here!

I was born in Northampton about 60 miles from London. Then I moved to London. Then I moved to Santa Clarita, CA. Love it!
