thanks Stages for keeping this thread inspired... I was recently out of of the USA. My family member was so self involved that her invitation to come which included my needs being cared for were seriously neglected. A local man and his son took me under their wing and were like angels of mercy during a most difficult and upsetting experience. I have friends now in this country that I feel so deeply connected with. They did not need to do what they did, but did because their hearts were in the right place. It was the most joy I experienced while I was there...becoming friends with these two kind people, locals to that country. Their kindness and friendship will forever be appreciated.

I was out with my significant other, when a man came up asking for money. Rather than ignore him, tell him to get a job, or think about how these people are just trying to "scam" us, my friend handed the man $20 and gave him a hug.
The look, and tears in the eyes of this homeless man were worth more than anything we could have bought with that money.
Let's all be compassionate to those who have to beg...I don't know about all of you, but I'm just a paycheck away from being in the same situation myself. And with our economy in the state it's in, many more of us may find ourselves in poverty in the days to come.
Judge not, lest ye be judged.
Blessings to all.
Deanna

Eve...thanks for sharing your story and the kindness of humanity that "can exist"....and Deanna? I hear you and identify with living pay check to pay check! If more people could look at others as the mirror image (meaning the homeless and those who are suffering) then I "think" there could be more compassion universally. In light of the spirit of things your s/o and your own being understand this and you are not alone.(Referring to his random act of kindness even though you yourselves are not rich)"at least financially however; rich in other ways such as humanity" So this is a positive beginning. Also, this thread is indeed a positive addition to the cyber world and into the homes of individuals who visit!
*hugs* all around and well wishes.
