Well ... basically, eagles are not always majestic, they're scavengers when the pickin's are easy ... and they don't always look regal doing it. So, most city dumps, including the landfill in Anchorage, will have eagles show up at dinner time. Both Homer and Eagle River, have people that bring "last year's salmon" from various fisher people's freezers for the salmon ... they won't eat halibut.
