I was scanning posts today and crossed this one. It is confusing to me as "entitled" to me always meant "earned". How does anyone earn the right to cheat on anything? There are a million and one reasons that people can give for cheating on tests or cheating on anything. There was an emergency, there were family circumstances, there was not enough time, there was a lapse in judgement, thought it would be ok if no one found out about it, was easier. The difference comes in that no one really earns the right to cheat. They call it cheating as it is going against the requirements and responsibilities that one has voluntarily accepted to be responsible for. Just as in academics there are ethics to follow, if not then you are removed from the school. There is a personal responsibility of honesty and integrity in each of us. If a marriage is over, be honest, if one isn't happy, be honest. Don't try to justify or say someone earns the right to cheat. If it wasn't seen as wrong they wouldn't have called it cheating. For those that have open marriages it is not considered cheating when both parties know about it, as the requirements have been changed and agreed upon by both parties. Try not to confuse an issue with excuses, justifying or reasoning, keep it where it should be in a person's decision to cheat or not to cheat and when and if they decide to cheat there are always consequences to his or her action.
