I remember summer as a young one

Reading until 3AM

Sleeping late

Swimming and playing until dark

No cares and no worries

Seems a long time ago now

Friday is summer

Tomorrow I'm driving two hours to attend my sister's wedding on Sat evening. As I emailed her earlier, "this is my happiest wedding ever, except my own." She's found, after many years (she is 52), a man she adores and who adores her. She's spent most of her adult life being cranky and her unhappiness has vanished. It's a wonderful thing to see.

Second best? I'll be performing the ceremony. One of my unfulfilled ambitions is to be an interfaith minister, and so my dream comes true for a day.
