After reading all of the stuff in this thread I'm wondering if you would consider having a professional bass vocalist and voice over artist in the group.
I am a lyrical & dramatic Basso Profundo written in operatic terms, in the real world I sing comfortably in only a 17 note range: from F above Mid-C down to D flat above Low C.
I have to operate under pretty much the same rules as does and any artist who walks into a session. I have to be able to read everything they throw in front of you, with the advent of computer scoring and notation software it has gotten a lot better.
I sing through the part a few times make and notes with the producer and flat out read and go. Put on the head phones, sing and set levels and I'm ready to go.
Sometimes I sing with people I know and sometime I have never heard of them, some are good and easy to sing with, easy harmony, some are soloists and can't blend worth a damn. Those are cut out pretty quickly, thankfully. There are also some who can't read a note, some learn quickly some are cut pretty fast.

My friend Ted O' Connell from The Bonnie Hayes band has recently gotten into making custom guitar amps and is taking the local scene by storm His standard "Bassboy" amps are 1/2 the wattage of a traditional bassman head with 4 8" speakers in natural wood finish - but he'll make 'em any way you want 'em. A latent talent, unleashed! Very Fendery deluxe reverb sound iwith more tingle. Let me know if you want a listen or a look? Sweet stuff!

I'm a tele guy. I love the simplicity and the feel of them. Right now I have an American deluxe tele and I play through the newly designed fender vibrolux amp.
