Hate to say it but that is how the game is played in Hollywood, but the unions now prevent such things. Although Eddie Murphy stole Coming to America from a writer who sued and won. Back before the 1960s, studios ran everything.
However, Kesey signed a contract. He made the mistake. I feel for him but that is why I copyright all my work before anyone sees it.
I agree that CEO pay is way out of line especially when they make NO money for the company. But, you can blame Boards of Directors for it and compensation committees. And, Sarbanes Oxley threw a wrench into people wanting to take a CEO job for a public company. Strange how pay jumped after it was passed.

Sure, some are, but the number of firms is getting smaller by the minute.
Many companies today seem to be loyal to their shareholders, P&L, big clients, and key alliances before they are loyal to their employees. Others say that employees haven't been very loyal to them over the last 10-15 years.
Bottom line--loyalty isn't dead. It just looks different.

I real understand what is being said, because the bussiness dosen't care about the amercian workers at all anymore..They want to pay low cost and get big bucks for nothing.
My husband has been down sized from his last job and he dose Statisticals and QA work that is unreal and now he can't re hired somewhere else either. It is sad in the States where big bussiness rule the country right down to the elections too

I'm an employer in a small business. Loyalty cuts both ways. It's interesting to see the number of employees who adopt a sense of entitlement because they have been at a company for a period of time and expect to be able to do the same old thing the same old way instead of adapting to a changing environment.
The bottom line is that employees have to learn to think like owners. As long as people have a we and they mentality, it is pretty certain that the person is digging in to preserve their job instead of seeing themselves as part of the solution.
When you have your own business you learn pretty quickly, "Evolve or Perish." As soon as everyone in a company is on that same page, employer loyalty will be much higher.
The best advice I can give anyone is this: As long as you think like a victim, you will have victim experiences. As soon as you learn to think like an entrepreneur who is creating the future you want, then the dynamics will change to the core.
Good luck to everyone who is going through the transition. What awaits at the other side is well worth the work.

Kris Stecker, you missed the point. People work hard for companies and companies fire them just to appease shareholders and overpaid execs (to keep their jobs). Just ask the Bank of America employee who was forced to train his Indian (India) eplacement and blew his brains out. I say do a great job at your company but keep your eyes open for opportunities elsewhere; a downturn one quarter and your expendable. I see a lot more loyalty at small business than large ones. Also, the backlash at companies firing everyone for the head idiot's mistakes (see GM, Ford, etc.) is coming back to bite the companies in the ass. If a company outsources employees, I try not to do business with them. Hate to rain on your parade but big companies reward brownosers not people who give all they had and improved things. Why do you think big investors are trying to buy huge blocks of companies CEOs have run into the ground? To fire them. I was saying don't expect any loyalty, do a great job, and keep your eyes open for other things. Victims are people that barely do their jobs, bitch about everything, and then wonder why they got fired. I should know since I fired brownosers first.

in large Corperations, Management doesn't care, like it does in a small company. I know from persoanl experience. All jobs require you to take Ownership of your part of the company. it is when the company fails to reward people for a good job or recognize good work that the loyalty gets lost.
