If you've posted on the What's For Dinner thread, you know I love to cook. I used to share cooking with my wife then we quickly morphed into the "I cook, you clean" deal. It's been working great for around 23 years.
I also have a collection of cookbooks. Mostly comfort food and hot & spicy faire. But I got caught up in the South Beach Diet and bought that book, too. Still looks new...
I love watching Food TV for inspiration and also like putting my own twist on traditional recipes.
Must be good eats, 'cause we both need to lose some weight!
Anyway, I'm looking forward to learning from you and sharing recipes.
Cheers!

Hi Scarecrow! I love to cook foods that are healthy for you. I didn't get the South Beach Diet cookbook because it restricts so many carbs. I love the Food Network Channel. Watch it all the time. Cheers to good eating, Carolyn

I know I should have come here first, but better late than never! I think I've enjoyed cooking and creating ever since the night my mom called home and said, make spaghetti sauce for dinner... Well, I had not been much involved in the food cookin' biz up until then, but my mom was getting tired of having a husband and three boys and very little support in that arena. Anyway, I dove into the spice cabinet, and before you knew it, I was getting rave reviews on my spaghetti. That day also started a cooking habit I've only broken on rare occasions - winging it without a recipe. I've told people that my recipes are like fingerprints; no two are the same.
Since those halcyon days of my youth, I've worked in food service on both sides of the serving line, and learned a few things along the way. I didn't make a career of it though - couldn't stand the hours as I got older.
I enjoy making soups and sauces, doing just about anything with a saute pan, grilling, & roasting, I'm also into the aesthetics of food - the presentation and the use of color to enhance the experience. I'm not as good a baker, but I do make a pretty good biscuit. I really enjoy a nice wine with my meals as well, particularly reds.
The culinary me, in 500 words or less...

I am the furthest thing from being a chef, but I have always enjoyed cooking. Now, as part of an entire life overhaul, I am really getting into it again, having done very little for a long time.
I don't collect cookbooks, just a couple of basic ones to keep me out of trouble. Otherwise, with a particular dish in mind, I search the internet for a recipe that seems both fairly easy and appealing. Then after making the dish I might tweak it before adding it to my collection.
As someone mentioned earlier, I too am excruciatingly slow. But I tell my victims that I am slow because I add a lot of love to my dishes.
