well, don't feel bad, mine comes off the minute i come home from most anywhere. as my mother always says "Do you think for one minute that men would EVER wear these things? No matter WHAT they looked like without them?"

Welcome to my world where the youth of today finally invented slang for my previous eating condition. It is called foodtarded.
It is when you get lethargic, or even comatose, from eating too much good food. How it is used is, "Man, we were gonna go to the show, but we got foodtarded off of fried chicken and mac 'n' cheese at Chris's, and just wound up lying around, watching 'Dodgeball.'"
Yet, only way I could describe it was to say I got my food drunk on. I would become intoxicated with the emotional release an excessive amount of food brought on. I would eat until slumber would overtake me. There is much more responsibility in calling it a food drunk. We compound two sins together and accept responsibility for it as we try to forsake this type of bondage. And now it is called foodtarded as if we can not stop it from happening because of our genetic disposition. No matter what you want to call it, if you recognize a consistent pattern in your eating habits, you must label it, own up to it, and overcome it.
They say that turkey is one of those foods that make you sleepy. At least you rationalize when your entire household of guests at Thanksgiving go into the family or living room and dose off in front of the television after the huge feast you prepared. Or is that really the first symptom of the affliction of foodtardic seeking to master us at one turn in our life? May you have food drunk-free and non-foodtardic days ahead of you.

Just as the Israelites blamed Moses, we often are tempted to blame others for our problems and failures. Frustration on the job, emotional stress, discontent, finding fault with uncomfortable situations, hatred, jealousy, and fits of anger — these are all evidence of the self-centered life demanding its own way and are allowed by God in order to develop our patience and mature us spiritually. What--patience and maturity? Not a novel idea as we eat ourselves into our next binge.
Emotional eating must find another outlet. That can happen when we quit blaming others and circumstances for causing us to eat a container of chocolate ice cream or a full 12 ounce package of cookies. We do indeed need to mature and to find patience in the ups and downs of life. Food is not the solace we seek nor the solution for our emotional stress. The blame game is what we need to tackle. We have to learn to deal with responsibility and seek results that bring value to ourselves. We need to soothe ourselves with substance that will grow us and not our body side. We need to substitute exercise, meditatation, hobby, writing, or whatever else has been a source of pleasure or could be. We need to transfer an emotional roller coaster ride for something creative and beneficial.
We know it is true, and yet we remain entrapped in what is comfortable and readily available, and that happens to be food. Can you think about what I have said this week and see if there might be a form of substitution that you might consider? It might be as simple as two glasses of ice cold water. By the time you finish it you will have that full feeling that food brings you. It might also be a brisk 20 minute walk, where you might not feel you accomplished much, but the endorphins are released, and yes, I am sure you saw something interesting that you would not have seen hovered over a plate indoors.
Finding our "thing" is possible once food is no longer worthy of being worshipped. If your body size says that you have indeed worshipped it, find your "thing" that will cause growth, not girth.
13). Growth, Not Girth

Pro 21:30 Human wisdom, brilliance, insight---they are of no help if the LORD is against you. (GNB)
We should all be seeking knowledge on what works and what doesn't work in our weight loss efforts. Mainly, through the school of hard knocks, we find out what doesn't work after we continue to put on pounds rather than lose it.
Our ears itch for a new miracle diet plan. An easy fix. Our favorite foods allowable as often as the flesh desires it. We wonder why nothing works for us, yet other people have results, or at least that is what the ads all taunt.
Then it dawns on us. Our own human wisdom, brilliance and insight are of no help. As Christians, God expects a higher level of knowledge; understanding the revelation of Christ Jesus. Understanding His divine wisdom, His glorious brilliance and His insight for you personally-one on one. He created your unique body and He has the unique plan for you. Do not crowd out His still, small voice by listening to others. They cannot possibly tell you the plan He has for you. Doesn't that sound foolish if we think that?
Have you awakened to Christ revealing to you the perfect plan, the one that brings success, the one that you will be able to truly glorify God for? Leave your method behind and seek the Living God. Do more than turn your weight loss efforts over to Him. Learn of Him and you will learn His way for you is best. Start with moderate portions. Eat each meal as if Jesus was there dining with you. Would you really gulp your food down and have seconds or thirds while He was still on His first and only plate, or would you dine minding your manners in the Presence of the King? Make sure the Lord is for you, by being for Him. That just might be a Kingdom plan and a diet plan all rolled into One.

2. Mat 23:6 "They also affectionately love the first couches [fig., places of honor] at the banquets, and the first seats [fig., most important places] in the synagogues. (ALT)
Interesting passage. Jesus was warning His followers about the Pharisees and the Scribes. He condemns the religious over their affectionate love at the what we would call, head table or chair at a banquet. Doesn't this strike us to the chord that we who are overweight are being a Pharisee or scribe?
The head table gets served first. The head table gets first choices before the supply diminishes. The head table is the first to be offered refills. The head table is catered to. The head table is what is viewed by other guests waiting their turn to eat. The head table is what we are admonished not to choose and do as they do. Yet, we have eaten ourselves, meal by meal, at the head table of Jesus' provision of our daily bread resulting in obesity. We cannot deny it because our body displays for all to view that we have affectionately loved first place at banquets and feasts, or what we call it meals.
Some sins and hypocrisy is evident for all people to see. Gluttony is one of those. Others are hidden because they are inward. Our care of the temple of God that He has given to us may well be why others do not listen to us, love us, support us, or see Jesus in us. To make a point, Jesus also rebuked against the Pharisees, Scribes and hypocrites, "But stop doing according to their works, for they say and do not do." Dear Jesus, is this why we don't have success and blessings and acceptance from others in our lives in Your Kingdom? We are not just sinning against our bodies, our Lord, and other people by our overly affectionate love of food; we are also holding back the arm of Jesus to set us free until we repent. Are we religious and hypocritical or do we have Jesus?
