Ahh, forgiveness. What a wonderful thing. It frees us from the pain and hurt. It brings back the power to us and takes it from the event/people that caused the pain in the first place. It allows us to create a better future for ourselves by being fully engaged in this moment and not dwelling in the past. It is liberating. It heals! It is spiritual. It is love!
I really like this quote about forgiveness:
"Forgiveness is almost a selfish act because of its immense benefits to the one who forgives." Lawana Blackwell
Blessings!

Harry, so true what you've said. Thanks for the quote, it's good.
Harry, so true what you've said. Thanks for the quote, it's good.
A Pastor that I deeply respect once commented that harboring unforgiveness (ill will, resentment) toward someone whom you believe has offended you causes YOU harm -- not the offender. He said that some of the most miserable people in the world are those who hate, resent, and harbor unforgiveness in their hearts against others. It can literally make you physically ill. So forgiveness sets you free. And I agree that forgiveness is a choice. I experienced this first-hand. I chose every day to forgive someone who hurt me deeply, and one day about 7 years later, I realized that I truly did forgive him. And now we are friends again.

Forgiveness is a choice. Unforgiveness is poison in your system-body , mind and spirit.

When you choose to forgive someone, healing takes place. If you do not know how to fiorgive, ask God to teach you and give you the grace to forgive.

I once heard someone say something like: "having a resentment is like drinking poison hoping it will kill the person you resent"
