Ghosts - Fact or Fiction?

Was his friend in Cali, or was that just where he got his elephant from? (yeah, that one caught me off guard! lol)

I've had people tell me that they've had odd occurrences after reading from the Necronomicon, but I guess it would depend on the version of it you have (so many people have put out books by that name now). The one I picked up from Barnes and Noble hasn't brought out any strange incidents with it. lol

Incognito, please accept my condolences for the loss of your friend, whom you said had just died... :( The building you describe sounds fascinating; have you ever been able to explore it yourself, by any chance? With hidden tunnels and chambers, I'll bet it would be a real treasure-trove of information of all kinds....

I read the Necronomicon, once. I thought it was just a coincidence when weird stuff started happening while I was reading it, but I guess it wasn't. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one weird things have happened to while reading that book. Coincidence or not, Sandi, I think it's just bizarre the way the elephant just appeared out of the blue like that and ran through the house...

I never had any interest in exploring the subterranean tunnels, or the "secret" chamber. Maybe I'm not afraid of ghosts, but I am enough claustrophobic that I have no interest in caves of any type... I get the wheebies-jeebies in basement parking garages.

I have a suspection I was buried alive in a past life, and that sort of haunts me... like a ghost from a past life.

Really bizarre... but it is a perfect example of the power of psychic energy, and the Law of Attraction.

Ah - I understand about the claustrophobia. Maybe it is something carried over from a past life... I hope you can find some way to resolve that, Sandi; it really sucks to go through life with those kinds of fears. I am with spiders the way you are with small, enclosed spaces, and for the life of me, I can't figure out why. So I do understand what you're saying.

As for the elephant thing, well, I have to agree with you. I couldn't have said it any better than you just did. :)

This is a bit off-topic I guess but what is the Necronomicon. I went and looked on Wikipedia and also just googled around and got a lot of differing information. What is its purpose...is it a thing of light or a thing of darkness (good stuff or bad stuff)?

The only people I've ever met that (in my fairly uninformed opinion) have been able to see spirits at will were heavy-duty preachers that called themselves "deliverance ministers". They claim that the disembodied spirits of deceased humans (which they described as "unclean spirits") look something like a dark, vertically-positioned footballs with a little tail at the top. The strongest one of them said that the ability to see these spirits is a gift from God....a gift that they called "spiritual discernment". I did some research on the matter, and found that a person acquires this ability when their "Third Eye" is opened. From what I gather, this is accomplished by causing two parts of the brain (the Thalamus and the Pituitary Gland) to vibrate at a certain frequency, and in unison.

These people told me that ALL disembodied spirits of humans that remain on Earth are malignant in nature. They further stated that you should in no way attempt to communicate with them. He told me that doing so was extremely dangerous....and that most people who do so have absolutely no idea what they're exposing themselves to.

I went to one of his one-day seminars, and watched him "cast out an unclean spirit" from an afflicted person. The guy had flown in from another state, and claimed that local warlocks had sent a demon into him. The preacher called it up, and had it talk through the young man's mouth. Immediately thereafter, this individual's demeanor, stance, and vocabulary changed to that of a completely different person. All I can say is this: If it was a fake, it was a damn good fake.

One thing I never figured out was this: Why do people with spiritual discernment see spirits as a vertical football, but other people see them as 3-dimensional human forms. If anybody has any insight on this, I'd be curious to hear it...

I've never heard of the "football" description before. I have heard that all spirits are negative, and that simply has not been my experience. I don't know what to tell you.
